Car accident claims life of Duduza footballer

Duduza – Thembinkosi ‘Bashin’ Mbamba, who played for Nedbank Cup 2019 Champions, TS Galaxy, died in a motor vehicle accident over the weekend, which happened between Dunnottar and KwaThema.

His passing comes a week after he played in the final that saw the Nedbank Cup being won by a team in the National First Division after his team beat Soweto Giants, the Kaizer Chiefs, 1-0.

Before playing for TS Galaxy, Mbamba played for a Duduza team, Izinyoka FC, and Tsakane’s African All Stars FC.

He also represented the country when he played for the u-20 national team.

Izinyoka FC public relations officer Tshepo Tlagae says Mbamba’s death is a huge loss for Duduza.

“The community of Duduza is shattered and is mourning Mbamba’s death.

“He was a jolly young lad who had big dreams for himself and his family. He always had a smile on his face, would give you a listening ear and was willing to improve his game day by day,” he says.

“We really looked forward to seeing Mbamba reaching greater heights, but as they say: ‘God’s timing is perfect’,” he says.
