KwaThema organisation hopes to get rid of drugs in the community

This was done with the hope of showing the learners how drugs can change and affect one’s life negatively.

KwaThema – Bambisanani Club (BBN) had a drug awareness campaign at Job Maseko Primary School in KwaThema last Monday.
The initiative was held to educate learners about the dangers of using drugs.
Muzi Mdluli, BBN chairperson, says: “Job Maseko was the first school which we went to.

However, we are planning on going to more schools at the start of the next term as schools are currently busy with examinations.”

Mdluli says they took a few drug addicts from the community to tell the learners how tough it is to get out of the vicious drug cycle.
This was done with the hope of showing the learners how drugs can change and affect one’s life negatively.
“We work very closely with the SAPS with the hope of getting rid of drugs in our community.
“We have a police officer who is also a member of our club and that helps strengthen our communication with the SAPS,” says Mdluli.

Mdluli says they are still a small organisation. However, they have organisations they work with which help them with taking some addicts to rehabilitation and connecting them with social workers at no cost.
