Inviting locals for a wellness day

He is the former world record holder for over 50 miles and the former world record holder for over 100km.

KwaThema – Former world record holder and nine-time Comrades Marathon winner, eight of which were consecutive wins, Bruce Fordyce is set to visit Bulithando Park on June 1.

He has won the London to Brighton Marathon title three years in a row.

In his athletic career, Fordyce held the 50 mile world record, as well as the 100km world record.

Bulithando Park is set to come alive on June 1, when a parkrun is held to create awareness of healthy living, wellness, weight loss and fitness purposes.

The parkrun will be open to everyone. It is free and easy to take part in.

This is an Ekurhuleni initiative in partnership with the KwaThema Sports Confederation.

The KwaThema Sports Confederation committee says: “The event is open to the public. Anyone who would like to partake is more than welcome. It promises to be safe, secure and fun.”

Community members are urged to register for the parkrun on May 25.

The registrations will take place at Bulithando Park from 8am to 4pm.

“The registration process is very simple and easy. You come to the venue and we capture your name, surname and identity number,” says the KwaThema Sports Confederation committee.

The parkrun will be a 5km timed run around Bulithando Park.
