KwaThema pre-school wins Kiddies Metro Games

The competition was for children in the three- to five-years category.

KwaThema – Crèches from across Ekurhuleni competed in this year’s annual Ekurhuleni Kiddies Metro Games.

The competition was for children in the three- to five-years category.

They participated in various sports, such as ball throwing, cycling, wheeling and sack racing.

The event took place on May 4 at Dries Niemandt Park.

In total 150 pre-school children participated in the event.

KwaThema Pre-School children were the winners of this year’s edition of the games, topping the charts with 162 points.

KwaThema Pre-school principal Angelina Mpoa says: “We deserved to win, given the hard work the little ones put in during our practice sessions on sports days, which we have every Wednesday.”

“Today we are walking away with more play equipment, which we will use to improve them even more.

“The medals will boost their confidence, while the trophy will decorate my office,” says Mpoa.

Melvin Kruger, the metro’s senior sports and recreational officer, says the purpose of these games is to help develop the children’s fine motor skills and boost their confidence.

All top 10 winners walked away with a trophy, medals and playing equipment courtesy of the metro.
