Because the mother was not feeling well, she took longer in the bathroom.

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says it is alleged that when she returned, she checked on both the children and noticed a bad smell coming from their blankets, but she didn’t take it to heart and tucked them in and went to bed.

“At about 7am, she went to check on the children and noticed that her son, aged three, had dried-up semen around his mouth and cheeks.

“She went on to check the girl, aged two, and noticed a bad smell from the child’s private parts.

“She further inspected her and noticed that she was penetrated in both her vagina and anus,” she explains.

The mother confronted the suspect, who denied ever touching the two toddlers. He further assured her that he would never hurt their children.

“The young mother could not believe a single word from him and reported the incident to the police.

“A case was opened and the victim was taken for further investigation and medical attention.

“The findings from the hospital were positive and the suspect was arrested,” she added.
