KwaThema Society for the Aged Choir keeps members busy.

“The elders love being in the choir as it keeps them busy.” - Kgoloane.

KwaThema – The KwaThema Society for the Aged Choir has been entertaining crowds since 1995.

The choir, which has no member under the age of 50, can be heard during the day at the KwaThema Society for the Aged in KwaThema where they rehearse after an aerobics session and warm breakfast.

“The elders love being in the choir as it keeps them busy,” says centre manager Monica Kgoloane.

The choir has performed at many local events and competes in an annual choir festival against other senior citizen choirs from around Gauteng.

Kgoloane says the elders love coming to the home and be part of the choir.

“They tell me they enjoy being at the centre and socialising with their peers because it helps them forget their problems,” she says.

In 2015 they won the Ekurhuleni Old Age Choir Competition.
