KwaThema – A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with domestic violence in Deep Levels in KwaThema last Wednesday.
It is alleged the police received a complaint through the 10111 emergency centre from a landlord about a couple fighting.
KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says the suspect was allegedly fighting with her husband.

“The landlord had to intervene and the fight was dissolved and both resorted to sleep in the room which they are renting.
“While the victim was asleep, the suspect woke up at about 1am and boiled a pot full of cooking oil, and poured it over the unsuspecting victim who was asleep at the time.
“The victim sustained serious injuries on his head, face, chest and arms.
“The suspect then informed the landlord of her actions and the police and ambulance were called to the scene,” she says.
Khoza adds that domestic violence is a very serious offence in the society and needs to be addressed. The community is urged to report any form of abuse to the courts as well as SAPS.
“In this case it proves that men too are being abused but suffer in silence because of the stigma from society, therefore they are also encouraged to break the silence when they are being abused,” she says.
