Tracing unit arrests two suspects in possession of illegal goods

Tsakane – Members of the EMPD Tracing Unit arrested two men aged 27 and 28 at a house in Khothavhushika Street, Extension Eight, Tsakane on Tuesday.

One suspect was arrested for possession of three unlicensed firearms, ammunition, two motor vehicle registration plates, rubber hand gloves, balaclavas and a nose mask.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka says the items are believed to be used in house robberies including the recent ones in Hydewyk Estate.

“We also found one access card to Hydewyk Estate identifying the suspect as a gardener, which it is also believed that it was used to gain access to the houses in that area,” she explains.

The second suspect was arrested in possession of 28 packets of a substance suspected to be drugs.

“The arrest came after the swift follow-up of the tip-off to the unit,” she adds.

Tsakane station commander Col Johannes Maass welcomed and congratulated the good work done by EMPD.

He also likes to thank the community members who are always willing to give information about illegal activities in the area.
