Eight men arrested in Duduza

Duduza– Eight men have been arrested for different crimes committed in the area during various operations over the weekend.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka says the first batch of arrests were made during the crime prevention operation in the area last Sunday.

“The police managed to arrest about five suspects for being in possession and dealing in drugs.

“The operation sought to ensure that the community of Duduza is protected from drug dealers,” he says.

Manaka adds that on Tuesday the members of the detectives conducted a tracing operation in the area.

“They were tracing suspects who are wanted for committing criminal offences.

“This is a bold step by Duduza police which shows that all cases opened do receive attention.

“The detective operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects wanted for assault with intention to do grievous bodily harm and theft respectively.

“The other suspects were arrested for housebreaking and theft after they were linked by means of fingerprints,” he adds.

Duduza SAPS station commander Lt Col Bheki Mhlungu urged the community not to lose faith in the police.

“We encourage the community to continue reporting cases, especially burglaries because police will always go an extra mile to bring criminals to justice,” he says.

Manaka also warned the community to be on a lookout for a white Renault vehicle which is normally without registration. The vehicle is suspected of committing a spade of burglaries around the area.
