Criminals harvest in Duduza schools over festive holidays

“They damaged the ceilings and stripped 11 classes of electrical connections.”

Duduza – Four schools in Duduza have experienced a series of burglaries over the festive season.

It is alleged the crimes were carried out for a continuous period at Asser Maloka Secondary School, Thandi Sibeko High School, MOM Secondary School and Sizwesethu Primary School.

Duduza police spokesperson, Sgt Harry Manaka, says the criminals gained entry into the classes through the ceilings and windows without burglar bars.

“They stole groceries, stationery, school uniforms, sport kit, stripped classes off electricity cables and other valuables.

“No one has been arrested but the investigations are still underway.

“We are calling on the residents who might have any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to come forward,” he says.

Manaka further urged the residents to refrain from buying suspected stolen goods because this is a criminal act and those found in possession of the goods will be arrested.

Asser Maloka School principal, Medi Sehume, says his school was burgled three times on different occasions.

“They damaged the ceilings and stripped 11 classes of electrical connections.

“We were forced to install steel doors and burglar bars on the windows,” he says.
