Kwatsaduza – Minister of Transport Blade Nzimande has reported that there has been a 16 per cent increase in road accidents in the 2018 festive season when compared to the figures of the previous 2017 festive season.

A statement from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Traffic Police Department reports that one passenger died in a taxi accident when the tyre of the taxi burst resulting in the taxi rolling over in Tsakane.

“One driver died in Duduza and there were no fatalities recorded in KwaThema,” the statement says.

The statement says 11 drivers were arrested in Duduza and seven in Tsakane for drinking and driving.
