Local DJ donates dignity pads to learners

“I am calling on those who are interested in joining the campaign to come forward. We will not be able to reach our goals by working as an island.”

Duduza – Mfundo ‘Mfundo Da DJ’ Nkosi distributed more than 150 sanitary towels to the learners at Roseview Primary School on Wednesday.

This was part of his Change Lives campaign to help learners stay in school.

Mfundo says he decided to join the national campaigns to collect and donate sanitary pads.

“I was touched when I learnt that a high number of learners were forced to be absent from school during their monthly cycles.

“I felt no learner should miss a single day of school because of something they cannot control.

“I decided to reach out to my friends on social media and other channels to donate the towels.

“I am grateful for the response I received, especially from total strangers,” he says.

Mfundo adds he will be continuing with the drive and hopes to cater for the needs of boy learners.

“For us to have young men who are educated and abstaining from criminal activities they need everyone to join hands and step in to help.

“They steal because they are poor and hungry, but if we catered for those needs there wouldn’t be that need.”

Mfundo says his goal is to donate enough towels to all the primary schools in Kwatsaduza at least twice a year.

“I am calling on those who are interested in joining the campaign to come forward.

“We will not be able to reach our goals by working as an island,” he adds.

The house music DJ will be releasing his new single titled Keep on Dreaming featuring GuguM in January.
