Last week the Gauteng Region Observatory (GCRO) Quality of Life Survey (QoL) 2017/2018 placed the City of Ekurhuleni as the ‘Best Performing Metro in Gauteng Province’.

The GCRO conducts a quality of life survey every two years in order to track perceptions and megatrends on social, economic and governance issues across Gauteng City Region.

And this time Ekurhuleni surpassed its neighbouring metros by 66 per cent, while City of Johannesburg and Tshwane trailed behind by 63 and 56 per cent respectively.

“We are encouraged by the findings.

“Since assuming office in 2016, we have set out to build a stable ANC-led coalition government, which is pro-poor and obsessed with quality service delivery.

“The results of the survey are testament to the fact that the ANC-led government in Ekurhuleni delivers,” says executive mayor Mzwandile Masina.

The survey revealed that in terms of Satisfaction with Services, the City of Ekurhuleni was ranked number one, ahead of both the City of Johannesburg and the City of Tshwane.

“Our Siyaqhuba Accelerated Service Delivery programme is increasing our efficiency in dealing with service delivery challenges timeously.

“The launch of the My Ekurhuleni Mobile App has also empowered the citizens of Ekurhuleni with the ability to act as the eyes and ears of the City in reporting service delivery issues.

“We are constantly looking for innovative ways to service our citizens and decrease the time it takes to deal with service delivery issues.

“There is still a lot of room for improvement, but we are delighted to be the number one metro in terms of delivering services to our people,” adds Masina.
