Deep Level has a growing trend of cable theft

KwaThema – Three families woke up to a shock of having the cables connected to the transmitter stolen in September.

There is a growing trend of cable theft in Deep Level which leaves many houses without electricity.

The residents suspect that the cables are stolen in the early hours of the morning.

Mathapelo Madigwe, one of the residents, says the thieves drop the main switch in the main transmitter when stealing the cables.

When they woke up on Friday morning, the entire row of houses didn’t have electricity.

She urges the police to intervene because when the thieves trip the electricity it puts their electrical appliances at risk of being affected.
