ATM along Montoedi Street has been bombed

“The police will continue to protect the property and lives of the people in the country".

Duduza – Ekurhuleni East Cluster Police are investigating a case of ATM bombing and armed robbery that took place at Montoedi Street on Tuesday.

It is alleged that at about 2pm, a loud sound of explosion was heard which was followed by a second one a short while later of screeching noise of vehicles speeding off the scene.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said when the police arrived at the scene, the suspects had already left the scene.

Duduza SAPS station commander Lt Col Bheki Mhlungu condemned the bombing and appeal to residents to be alert when they draw money from the ATMs.

“We are relieved that none of the members of the community or SAPS was harmed.

“We urge business people to take extra precaution in safeguarding their businesses infrastructure especially as we approach the festive season.

“The police will continue to protect property and lives of the people in the country,” he said.

Mhlungu has appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to contact the police at Crime Stop 0800 10111/ or Duduza SAPS on 071 675 7027.
