Asidlaleni tournament created an opportunity for soccer scouts to spot talent.

Asidlaleni Tournament took place the past weekend . All KwaThema primary schools participated and demonstrated great talent.

KwaThema -The Asidlaleni Tournament took place last weekend. The aim of the tournament was to expose learners to talent scouts and to potentially open avenues for them to different sporting academies.

Ntokozweni u-13 took first position in the tournament and received a prize money of R30 000.

They also won two soccer kits.

Vuyisile Gusha of Ntokozweni Primary School was awarded a top goal-scorer award in the tournament. He received R1 000.

Zweli Mazibuko from the same school was also awarded the best player of the tournament, and received

R1 000.

Nkosinathi Dube and Nhlakanipho Yeni, coaches of the u-13 division at Nkotozweni Primary School, extended their appreciation to the tournament organisers, parents and coaches, for the support shown to the learners throughout the tournament.

Fred Habedi Primary School came out second and received a prize money of R20 000.

Umzomsha Primary School, placed third, received R10 000 with KwaThema Primary School receiving

R5 000 for their fourth position.

The girls were not left out in the tournament.

The learners demonstrated great skill and talent. Masimini Primary School came out first place taking back to their school R20 000.

Zamani Primary School came out second place winning R10 000.

Third place went to Job Maseko Primary School, earning R5 000, while fourth-placed Fred Habedi received

R2 000.

The organisers would like to thank the sponsors for their generosity.

The tournament will be an annual event.

Good players will be channeled to football academies.

For netball, the organisers are planning to initiate a netball academy in KwaThema with the idea of opening opportunities to girls to thrive in the game.
