Ordinary women doing extraordinary things in society.

Three women from Extension Two, Phase Two in KwaThema, came together to find a solution within their means to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

KwaThema – After seeing the number of children who are victims of poverty in the community, local women felt they needed to do something about their plight.

And so three women from Extension Two, Phase Two in KwaThema, came together to find a solution within their means to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds. They knitted items using wool to donate to orphanage homes.

Mama Nelly Vilakazi , Ntombenhle Nkosi and Kgulu Khumalo, started this initiative four months ago.

They decided they also needed to start playing a role in changing the lives of the poor in the community. They have managed to knit about sixteen items which are tops, skirts and dresses. They spent money from their own pockets to buy the wool they use for knitting.

They now request help from anyone who can donate wool to help continue with this initiative.

They say they will work closely with social workers to identify children who are in need of these clothes.
