Hotspot dumpsites problem solved in KwaThema Ward 80
Members of KwaThema Ward 80 gathered to try to solve the problem of dirty places in the area.
KwaThema – Members of Ward 80 gathered to clean a dumpsite next to Sechaba Primary School, in order to eliminate environmental pollution in the area.
The initiative was organised by the Community Working Programme.
The initiative forms part of an ongoing programme to identify and clean dumpsite hotspots in Ward 80.
Members of waste management, Ward 80 Councillor Wilson Busakwe together with the KwaThema Councillor’s coordinator Sophie Mthi also came to lend a helping hand.
Nkosinathi Shabangu, one of the ward committee members, said that there is a huge problem of illegal dumpsites in KwaThema and in the area.

This creates hygienic problems for people living near the dumpsites.
Councilor Busakwe said there used to be skip bins in open fields to prevent illegal dumping.
However, people used the bins to dispose of babies so they were removed.
The intention of cleaning these sites is to turn them into areas of attraction and places of leisure.
More so the Councillor says they are also planning on planting trees on these sites on Heritage Day to strengthen their project of cleaning up Ward 80.
