Ekurhuleni LGBTI community to commemorate Eudy Simelane’s tragic death at gay pride
The Ekurhuleni Pride Organising Committee (Epoc) will celebrate their 10th anniversary and will commemorate Eudy Simelani.
KwaThema – The Ekurhuleni Pride Organising Committee (Epoc) will celebrate their 10th anniversary and will commemorate Eudy Simelane.
Eudy was a former Banyana Banyana player who was raped and murdered in 2008 in a park in Tornado Section which was later renamed Eudy’s Park.
The event will be hosted in Eudy’s Park on Saturday at 10am.

The aim of the event is also to drive the conversation to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) intimate partner violence in same-sex relationships.
They also want to raise awareness about the high levels of substance abuse the community is facing.
To remember and honour Eudy they will have a candle lighting ceremony at the spot where she was murdered.
