Joyce is living in pain after a bad operation at Pholosong Hospital

“I fear they might do more damage and might lose my life in the process.”

Tsakane – When Joyce Magubaane was admitted to Pholosong Hospital in May, to remove fibroids in her womb, she thought this would be the end of living in pain.

Little did she know this was only the beginning of an even more painful journey.

Joyce says a few days after being discharged she started feeling pain coming from her stomach which would not subside even after taking painkillers.

“I would take painkillers to kill the pain but within minutes the pain would be back, even worse.

“I could not keep anything down, not even liquids.

“I thought I would get better, but I kept getting worse by the day.

“I decided to go back to the hospital and the nurse and doctor on duty checked the wound and said there was nothing wrong with me and the pain would subside within days.

“Months later the pain got even worse that I struggled to walk or get out of bed.

“I decided to go to a private doctor where, through a scan, staff confirmed there was an object stuck inside my womb.

“The doctor advised me that I needed to be operated on urgently,” she explains.

Joyce says she is scared to go back to the hospital because she was told by the nurse that she was an attention seeker.

“I fear they might do more damage and I might lose my life in the process.

“If they did a bad job the first time, what will stop them from messing everything even further?”
