Edu-Fun aims to empower the youth

Edu-Fun aims to educate and mentor young people between the ages of 18 and 35, to become sporting coaches.

“We want to educate young people to take part in growing the sports culture, especially in schools.

“We want to equip them with the skills to work with learners,” explains Mongezi Radebe, the organisation’s chairperson.

He says that their main objective is to then place the aspiring coaches into the schools in the areas where they are from.

“This is our contribution in creating more employment.

We have realised that there is a huge development gap between the learners and professional athletes.

And we hope to have the young athletes ready for the professional levels as early as possible,” he adds.

The organisation also believes that the development gap between aspiring coaches and the professionals is also ridiculous.

“We firmly believe that sport and education is one of the best combinations to deal with the rising rate of unemployment among the youth.

“We also want to introduce more sporting codes in township schools.”

“All the board of directors are young and motivated to give back into sports development.”

“The organisation is determined to use innovative ideas to improve the environment of children in the township.”
