Clean up begins at Never-Never informal settlement

“The people cannot wait for council to come and help as it is winter and people need shelter.”

Local businessman Henlo Meyer has stepped in to help the residents of Never-Never informal settlement clear up after a devastating fire on July 15.

Eleven houses were destroyed in the fire and nine families were displaced.

Two men were left with superficial burns on their arms as a result of the fire.

Residents were on the scene helping with the clean-up and the rebuilding of the homes.

“We appreciate the help Meyer has given us.

“The people cannot wait for council to come and help as it is winter and people need shelter,” says Charles Links, the chairman of Never-Never informal settlement.
