KwaThema man sentenced to total of 42 years imprisonment

KwaThema SAPS has assisted in the successful prosecution of two criminals, at the Springs Magistrate's Court.

KwaThema – Mbongeleni Magwaza (33) has been sentenced to a total of 42 years imprisonment.

He was on trial on multiple charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlawful ammunition, robbery with aggravated circumstances, attempted murder and armed robbery.

Asvaela Mabandla (31) has been sentenced to a total of 19 years imprisonment.

He was also on trial on multiple counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlawful ammunition, robbery with aggravated circumstances, attempted murder and armed robbery.

Sibusiso Gift Fana Skhosana (35) has been sentenced to a total of 32 years imprisonment.

He was on trial on multiple counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlawful ammunition.

Captain Thabo Sibuyi wishes to thank the community for coming forward with information that led to arrests and prosecutions.

“The situation is sad because these are young people who could have contributed positively to our community.

“We appeal to the youth not to take the path of crime, no matter how tempting it looks.”
