Duduza police spokesperson Sergeant Harry Manaka says illegally connecting electricity is a criminal offence and those found doing this will be prosecuted by the law.

“This is a dangerous act that can lead to injuries and even the loss of life.

“The police worked with officials and technicians in uncovering and uprooting all illegally connected cables from different sources in the area.

“According to the Eskom technicians, this was the most successful operation on illegal connections and many lives will be spared,” he says.

“We are discouraging the community of Duduza illegally connecting electricity from any of the Eskom infrastructures.

“All the illegally connected cables were confiscated and will be destroyed by Eskom,” he says.
