Ratanang wants to make Father’s Day for the elderly special

Ratanang Elderly Organisation will celebrate Youth Month and Father’s Day by honouring those who help raise the nation on June 16.

KwaThema – Nomvula Sibanyoni, the organisation’s founder, says they always aim to make pensioners feel special.

This time special attention will be giving to omkhulu (grandfathers) in the community.

“People often make plans to express their love to those close to them.

“But we often forget about our grandparents.”

“We are so fortunate to have the elderly among us and that they live to reach the age of 100.

“This is also in celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 100 birthday.”

The organisation operates only on funds from donors.

“We would still appreciate the support from the community.

“Especially so that the elders don’t leave the event empty-handed.”

Zandile Shabalala, who has been assisting Nonhlanhla since the establishment of the organisation, explains that their numbers are growing.

“The group is growing at a fast rate, but we are still very open to receiving new members.

“We also encourage family members to sign up on their behalf.”

The duo does home visits to recruit potential members.

The event will take place on June 16 at KwaThema Hall.

“Our guests of honour have been waiting for this occasion and we only hope we can live up to their expectations.”

The crew encourages other pensioners to contact them and be part of their initiative.
