Ekurhuleni Goodwill give Striders a boast before Comrades

Kwathema Stridders receive R30 000 donation as they prepare for Comrades Marathon

KwaThema – KwaThema Striders have received a R30 000 donation from the Ekurhuleni Goodwill committee on Monday.

Pule Malefane, on behalf of the foundation, says they are grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to the sporting culture of the community.

“Sporting activities help develop the community, socially and physically.

That is why we wanted to help you.”

Embrace the sport and get other people, especially the youth, to participate in sport as well.”

The committee was approached by a member of the club, but they decided instead of sponsoring an individual they would help the whole organisation.

“We will continue to support such initiatives because this is how we believe we can best assist.”

Chairperson Maruping Kodisang says the club will be eternally grateful for the donation.

“We appreciate being recognised as beneficiaries.

This amount will go a long way in assisting the team in the short term goal of going to the comrades.”

A total of 49 members of KwaThema Striders will be travelling to Pietermaritzburg for the Old Mutual Comrades Marathon.

On Saturday, the club will host a Comrades breakfast run.

They will start at 7am, at corner Kgaswane and Motlhaping, in KwaThema.

The community is invited to participate.

This will also be an opportunity to wish the team well before they leave for Pietermaritzburg next week.
