Springs’ Daggafontein Mega City Project to go ahead

Daggafontein Mega City bulk and infrastructure upgrading to start in August.

Work on the Daggafontein Mega City Project is scheduled to start in August.

The bulk and infrastructure services will be upgraded and top structure construction is planned to start in February 2019, yielding a total of 600 housing units and 1 000 serviced stands in the 2018/19 financial year.

Currently, the planning phase of this project has been concluded and received the EIA Approvals (Environmental Authorisation) for Phase 1 and the service agreement has been finalised.

The Land Development Agreement is currently being finalised.

The project is estimated at R7.1-billion and the communities of Daggafontein and Hollywood informal settlements are expected to benefit.

“There will be a public meeting about this project very soon, where the MMC will address people and inform them of what is happening,” says ward councillor Shadow Shabangu.
