A clothing store visits the elderly in Tsakane

Clothing store visits Tsakane Old Age Home after official opening at Tsakane Mall.

Tsakane – A clothing store paid a surprise visit to Tsakane Old Age Home to make a donation, last Thursday.

As they opened their new store at Tsakane Mall, the national clothing store decided to do something for the community.

Jack Visagie, the store’s area manager, ensured the pensioners that they intend on doing more to support them.

“I am here on behalf of all the people who should be taking care of you.

“I know that sometimes we overall look and neglect you.”

Visagie adds that he is grateful to be the one to serve the community, on behalf of the store, in this way.

“Our elders are the anchors of our communities and we can all make a greater effort to make sure they live comfortably.”

The store donated 32 R50 vouchers, ensuring that each one of the pensioners receives one, and some chocolate goodies to nibble on.

Sister Maria Madumo says the home is happy to receive the gifts.

“We will buy them something they need, like slipper or pajamas.

“We appreciate this act of love more because the elders do not have a lot.”

In a previous interview, the centre’s manager Phoko Mokubung said that most of the pensioners have been abandoned.

He said that they do not get many visitors.

“It is the thought that counts. For people to go out of their way to make us feel special,” adds Sister Madumo.

Visagie also expressed words of gratitude to the caregivers who work at the centre.
