18-year-old raped on her way home

“The suspects took turns raping her.” - Police

KwaThema – Police are investigating a case of rape after an 18-year-old woman was raped two weeks ago.

It is alleged the complainant was walking home near the open veld along Mohlala Street in Phomolo Section on the evening of April 20.

KwaThema police spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi says the victim was allegedly approached by three unknown men.

“The men forcefully grabbed her and forced her to lie on the ground.

“One of the suspects undressed her. He took off his trouser and started raping her without protection.

“The other suspects were holding her hands and legs.

“The suspects took turns raping her,” he says.

Sibuyi says when they were done they left her on the scene.

“She allegedly walked home and after a few days, she wrote a letter informing her mother about her ordeal.

“The mother encouraged her to report the matter to the police.

“The police have opened a case of rape and no one has been arrested yet.

“We are encouraging residents to be extra vigilant and to not walk alone at night.

“We are calling on anyone with information about the suspects to inform the police,” he says.
