Two Four Plus One taxis stolen overnight in KwaThema

“We are calling on the taxi owners to ensure that the drivers have proper security for the vehicles."

KwaThema – A beige Mazda hatchback that was used as a Four Plus One taxi with registration number SYKO 94 GP was stolen at a house along Khakhaza Street in New Payneville on Friday night.

It is alleged the car was parked at the driver’s home with the gates locked.

KwaThema police spokesperson Capt Thabo Sibuyi says the driver alleges he was shocked in the morning to find the gate wide open and the vehicle nowhere to be found.

“The value of the vehicle is said to be estimated at R18 000,” he says.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a brown Toyota Corolla, which is also used as a Four Plus One taxi, was stolen at a home along Dlamini Street in Highlands on Friday.

It is alleged the windows of the vehicle were closed and the security gate was locked.

Sibuyi says the vehicle was found missing the following morning.

“We are calling on the taxi owners to ensure that the drivers have proper security for the vehicles.

“No one has been arrested thus far, we are calling on anyone with information about the theft to come forward,” he says.
