KwaThema – It is alleged the victim was sleeping with her 11-year-old son when she was woken up by the lights being switched on in the bedroom.
KwaThema spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi says when she opened her eyes she saw the man.

“When the suspect realised that she recognised him, he pulled out a pocket knife and started stabbing her in the left hand.
“She managed to block him, pushed him to the ground and ran out of the room and started calling for help.
“It is alleged the suspect first tried to open the outside door where her 18-year-old son was sleeping.
“It is suspected the suspect gained entry through the kitchen window,” he says.
“The family called the sector police working in the area, the suspect was found at his home with some of the stolen items which included a TV and a microwave.
“He was arrested and charged with theft and attempted murder and will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon,” says Sibuyi.
