Stolen vehicles recovered in Tsakane

Police recovers stolen cars and firearms.

Tsakane – The police recovered a stolen Golf 5, Renault and two firearms at around 11pm last Wednesday.

Tsakane police spokesperson, Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu, says the Cluster SAPS were following the coordinates of a vehicle that was reported hijacked in Benoni.

“Tsakane Sector Three vehicles and backup vehicles from KwaThema reacted to the coordinates as they showed that the vehicle was in Extension 15, Tsakane,” Mngomezulu says.

While they were searching in Ext 15, a silver-grey Renault with an unknown number of occupants appeared from one of the streets.

“The suspects started shooting at the police and the police retaliated and gave a chase after the vehicle,” Mngomezulu says.

“The suspects got off the vehicle at Extension 16 and fled the scene on foot, leaving behind two firearms on the ground.

“The other vehicle was found at Ext 15 around where the shooting started.”

Tsakane station commander Colonel Johannes Maass urges members to take precautions at all times when executing their duties.

He is also appealing to the community to come forward with information about any criminal activities in their area.
