Local business family donates school uniform

A local business family brought a smile on the Langa family's face when they donated a full school uniform to their daughter on Monday.

KwaThema – The child recently moved in with her unemployed father who could not afford to buy her a school uniform.

Boysen Langa, says he was reluctant to enrol his daughter at the new school because he could not afford to buy her a new school uniform.

“It also broke my heart because not having a uniform would also affect her self-esteem and learning in school.

“I decided to approach the ward councillor, Thulani Simelane, for help.

“I am happy that my daughter today has a full uniform and will be able to concentrate on her studies,” he says.

Tumi Ndaba says she was heartbroken when she received the request and decided to step in to assist.

“No child should be deprived of education only because they don’t have a uniform.

“Because we grew up being taught it takes a village to raise a child, we decided to step in.

“We have adopted the child and will try to help whenever and wherever we can.

“We want to see her excel in her studies to become an important person in the community,” she says.

Clr Simelane says he is calling on other business people in the area to step forward to help those who are in need.

“If we all join hands and work together we will be able to fight social ills which include drug abuse and teenage pregnancies.

“It is not only the responsibility of government to bring about changes but the whole community too,” he says.
