Car hijacking in broad daylight in KwaThema, suspects still at large

The hijacked vehicle was recovered in Matsime Street, hours after it was hijacked.

KwaThema – A man and his crew were hijacked on the corner of Makoe and Ngobeni streets in Rest in Peace.

On January 25, at about 1.35pm the complainant, who was driving a white VW Transporter panel van, was approached by three unknown males.

One of them was armed with a firearm.

They commanded the driver and his crew to alight from the vehicle.

They searched them at gunpoint and took three cell phones and two wallets containing cash to the amount of R380.

They then drove off with the vehicle without the complainant and his crew.

The vehicle was carrying two boxes of cigarettes which were on promotion.

No shots were fired.

The car was recovered at Matsime Street Ext 4, a few hours after it was stolen.

Suspects are still at large.
