Thirteen members of the Springs Police recently discovered a colossal dagga plantation in Springs.
This comes after a different operation, held at the beginning of the week, lead the members to this discovery.
Amanda Greybe, spokesperson for the Springs Police says the first haul of the dagga plants recovered weighed in at about 500kg.

A truck and two bakkies were loaded with the plants, but according to Greybe, the police need to go back as there are “about eight more truckloads-full of dagga plants” to retrieve.
Due to the seriousness of the ongoing investigation, the location of the dagga plantation cannot be disclosed.
The operation was led by Col Doctor Mthimkulo, who is the Visible Policing (Vispol) commander as well as the acting station commander.
Roughly estimated to be worth about R350 000 when the plants are dry, this is one of the biggest dagga busts Springs has seen in a while.

“The plantation is incredibly big, this is just a drop in the ocean as there are many more to come,” says Greybe.
She adds that the plants will be destroyed by being burned.
No arrests have been made yet.
