A man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition at Ekuthuleni Hostel in KwaThema on Saturday.
The Visible Policing (Vispol) trio task team received a tip-off from the community about a man in possession of a firearm.
According to Ekurhuleni East Cluster spokesperson, Capt Thivhulawi Tshilate, the police followed up on the information and found the firearm and eight rounds of live ammunition in the man’s possession.
“We immediately arrested a middle-aged man,” says Tshilate.
Maj Genl Girly Mbele thanked and congratulated the team for work well done.
“We appreciate the good partnership between the police and the community for reporting illegal activities,” said Mbele.
