KwaThema – Tshepo Morajane, founder of Karat Berit Records, will be hosting a gospel concert to inspire young talent.
“We are giving new talent the platform to gain experience and training through this show,” says Tshepo.
“Karat Berit is Hebrew for ‘covenant’, which is two-fold,” he explains.
“It is a record company but we are also planning to have a school.”
As an artist himself, Tshepo has recognised the need for good training.
“It is not good enough to just have talent.
“We need to train people in the business of music and how to carry themselves as artists.”
He believes that many have wasted their energies through failure to invest in good training.
“If we leave people to figure the careers and the industry out, it will take forever for them to blossom.
“Training and preparation is more important than practise, and this is where most people get it wrong.”
He says the company will focus mainly on gospel artists, and is aiming to bridge the gap between experienced artists and newcomers.
“We would like the community to give us a chance to prove ourselves,” Tshepo says.
“And there will be a few surprise acts on the day.”
The event will take place at 3pm on Saturday, December 9 at the True Vine Tabernacle Church at 2 Tonk Meter Drive, Selcourt (next to Corobrik), Springs.
