Three nabbed for house robbery

Selling the stolen tools to a local mechanic turned out to be a bad move on the part of the thieves.

Duduza – Three men aged between 19 and 32 were arrested for house break-in and theft in Masechaba on Thursday.

It is alleged the men broke into a house while the owners were away.

They forced their way into the shack and stole two toolbox kits worth R6 000.

Duduza police spokesperson, Sgt Harry Manaka says it is alleged they sold the items to a local car mechanic.

“The son of the owner arrived and received information about the men who sold the tools and immediately alerted the police.

“Members of crime prevention responded and managed to trace and arrest the men,” Manaka says.

“The stolen goods were also traced and recovered.”

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man was arrested for common robbery in the same area on Sunday.

“This was after he and another male assaulted and robbed a male,” Manaka says.

“Police were notified and the suspect was arrested and they are still looking for the second suspect.”

Duduza Police Station commander Lt Col Bheki Mhlungu reiterated that the police will not tolerate acts of criminality, regardless of how petty or how serious the crime is perceived to be.

He also urged members to arrest all known suspects as soon as possible after a case is reported.
