Three convicted for life sentences

“One of the victims managed to seek help and showed the police and paramedics where the incident took place."

Tsakane-Tsakane Magistrate’s Court has served three men 20 years and four life sentences for murder.

Bongile Mangcotywa was found guilty and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment while his co-accused Vuma Philangenkosi Simelane and Wonder Bonga Nkambule were sentenced for life and 20 years’ imprisonment each for kidnapping, attempted murder and murder.

This comes after the three convicted males committed murder at the old mining dump in Extension Five in Langaville, Tsakane on November 1, in 2015 because of road rage.

Tsakane police spokesperson, Sergent Lerato Mngomezulu, says the four victims were involved in an accident at Ext Four with the vehicle that was driven by the three convicted.

“It is alleged that after the accident, the four victims were escorted to the panel beater. Two of the four were escourted in their own car while the other two victims were taken in the suspects’ car where a quotation to fix the suspects’ car was obtained.

“An argument ensued when the victims tried to explain they did not have the amount requested by the panel beater.

“The suspects threatened to assault the victims and to take the vehicle the victims were driving.

“Two of the four victims managed to run away while the other two were taken to an open veld near the old mining dump on Vlakfontein Road where they were shot,” she says.

Mngomezulu says the suspects then managed to flee the scene after shooting them.

“One of the victims who was shot managed to seek help and showed the police and paramedics the place of incident.

“The other victim was certified dead by the paramedics,” she says.
