Kwatsaduza’s very own Gospel Awards

Kwatsaduza Community Development Forum will host its first Gospel Awards on December 9.

Tsakane – Kwatsaduza Community Development Forum will host its first Gospel Awards on December 9.

Established in 2013, the forum has been on a mission to bring all non-profit organisations from Kwatsaduza under one umbrella.

“Most of these organisations have limited resources.

“Our idea is to help them share what they do have, so that they get access to each other’s resources as well,” explains Pearl Sekgobela, organiser of the awards.

She says they are using the mechanism of music and gospel specifically, because they know it brings people together.

“We are approaching the season of giving and we want to take the opportunity to acknowledge our gospel artists and the work they do in our communities.

“On the other hand we are using the platform to raise funds to get more facilities for the forum and the NPOs we assist,” she says.

The organisation has partnered with major brands to make the event a success.

On its Facebook Page, ‘Kwatsaduza Community Forum’, the public will have an opportunity to nominate artists and choirs for various awards.

“We want to encourage participation from every genre of gospel music.

“From clap and tap, a cappella to contemporary – we don’t want anyone to feel left out,” adds Pearl.

Some of the catergories are Best Song, Best Overall Musicianship and Best Community Outreach by a choir or artist.

The black-tie event will take place on December 9 at Faranani Multipurpose Centre in Tsakane.

NPOs are encouraged to contact Pearl Sekgobela on 064 232 7385.

“There will be loads of entertainment on the night.”

The organisation has also partnered with Greater Brakpan Taxi Association to ensure guests will have reliable transport, at a local fee, after the event.
