KwaThema – A 19-year-old man has been charged with assault after kicking his mother (39) in the face during an altercation on Saturday evening.
It is alleged the complainant was demanding money from the mother.
KwaThema police spokesperson Capt Thabo Sibuyi says the mother told the suspect that she didn’t have the money but he insisted that she has.
“The suspect became aggressive during the scuffle and pushed the complainant and she fell to the ground.
“He allegedly kicked her in the face.
“The stepfather of the son went to his car, started the engine and as he was reversing, the young man took a brick and hit the windscreen of the vehicle twice.
“He then fled the scene but was later arrested by the police for malicious damage to property,” he says.
Sibuyi says the young man is set to appear at the KwaThema Magistrate’s Court.
“This should serve as a warning to young people to not abuse their parents or they too will be called to book,” he says.
