WATCH: Tsakane Mall abuzz with heritage celebrations

Tsakane – In celebration of Heritage Day Tsakane Mall hosted the Tsakane Mall Heritage fun day.

“On this day South Africans are encouraged to celebrate their various cultures and the diversity of their beliefs and traditions in the wider context of a nation that belongs to all its people.”

The aim of the event was to celebrate heritage through a traditional music show, fashion exhibition, traditional attire competition and indigenous games.

“The event aims to bring families together under one music umbrella to experience a fun-filled music and games show.

“That is what we are all about as a brand,” says programme director Khulekani.

Khulekani says the event needs to be bigger and better next year.

“It is important to showcase local talent and give people a platform.

“Next year I hope we will be at the stadium with a bigger crowd.”

Ithole Lika Mtshali, a maskandi artist from KwaThema Hostel says he appreciates the community’s support.

“The reason why we are here is because people have supported us from the very beginning.

“We owe them everything that we are.”

He believes that people from other communities will eventually know them and hear their music if their own community buys it.

Gugwelihle Ngwenya and Gertrude Shabangu of Caxton Group were there to educate potential vendors about selling newspapers.
