Young musicians show off talent

Tsakane - Residents of Kwatsaduza enjoyed good music by the students of Ekurhuleni School of Music at Faranani Multi-purpose Centre last Friday.

The event was hosted to celebrate Heritage Month.

School principal, Tumelo Moeketsi, says the event was hosted to showcase the diverse talents of pupils at the school.

“The students performed traditional songs from diverse cultures in Mzanzi.

“Music has been known to unite people of different cultures worldwide regardless of their race or language.

“The event was also to introduce the school to the community to encourage others to enrol,” he says.

Tumelo says the school has been operating at the Faranani Multi-Purpose Centre since last year.

“They teach the theory of music to students interested in playing the guitar, piano or drums. They also offer singing lessons and practical musicianship.

“The examinations are conducted in collaboration with the Association Board of The Royal Schools of Music in London.

“Our music lessons are from 9am – 4pm Monday to Thursday and on Fridays from 9am to 12noon.

“For more information contact Tumelo Moeketsi on 083 715 6406,” he says.

Proud parent, Maria Ndlovu, says she is pleased her son is able to play the instruments.

“He only enrolled in the school earlier this year and could not play an instrument.

“I wanted to keep him busy during his spare time but now he has developed a love for music,”she says.
