Phase two of Joe Nzamane Street underway

“The street is also meant to reduce the amount of traffic on Kgaswane streets especially on weekends for funerals which are held in the Vlakfontein Cemetery."

KwaThema – Phase two of the R10-million Joe Nzamane Street is under construction.

The new street will start from Kgaswane Street and is set to lead to Vlakfontein Road.

It is also meant for the route of the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) which will be rolled out in the area.

Ward 80 Clr Wilson Busakwe says the second phase started in August and is set to be completed in December this year.

“The first phase of the construction was completed last year which is halfway to Marule Street.

“The street is also meant to reduce the amount of traffic on the Kgaswane streets especially on weekends when funerals are held at the Vlakfontein Cemetery.

“We have identified that the traffic is unbearable and had to come up with alternative routes.

“We are also hoping that it will reduce the amount of crime that is being carried out in the area.

“We are confident that we will be able to meet deadline.

“The project has absorbed eight people from the community,” he says.
