The children were startled when they saw the five armed men, who were wearing balaclavas, inside the house.
KwaThema Police spokesperson Capt Thabo Sibuyi says it is alleged the men armed with firearms instructed the family not to scream and then placed socks in their mouths.
“They then stripped the home of various items including a television set, music system, four cellphones, ID book, driver’s licence and bank cards and loaded all the goods in the complainant’s vehicle and fled.
“No one was injured during the incident.
“The vehicle was recovered in Tembisa on the same day,” he says.
