Germiston – Dan Radebe Primary School learners attended the Eskom-Expo Young Scientists at Germiston Hall on Saturday morning.
The school was represented by Zinhle Mokoena and Nompumelelo Mnguni, who created the Smart Tracking Watch and Kamohelo Motaung who wrote a paper called ‘Healthy and Unhealthy food: A case study of Dan Radebe Primary School’.
The learners were accompanied by their Natural Science and Technology teachers Rakgadi Mokhotla and Ntombifuthu Zwane.
“It was a very tough competition,” says Mokhotla.
Unfortunately, the Smart Tracking Watch did not win but the case study project won the school a silver medal.
Kamohelo, a grade six learner, says it was a great honour for him to have participated in the competition.
“I really hope to get through again next year.”
Principal Malamulela Nxumalo says he is very proud of the learners on their results.
“We would like to thank the mentor from Eskom-Expo Kgaphola Innocentia.”
