Man shot during hijacking

Tsakane – Bongani Hlatshwayo (39) was murdered on Saturday during a hijacking in Cornwell Street in Extension Eight, Langaville.

Springs police spokesperson, Captain Johanness Ramphora, says the man was shot on the left side of his chest.

“The police interviewed the people in the area but nobody witnessed the incident.

“We currently don’t know how many suspects were involved or what transpired.

“We discovered that two cartridges were found near the deceased,” he says.

Meanwhile, in another incident, the police are investigating a case of attempted murder.

It is alleged the complainant , Mfundo Mtimba, (36) was walking alone along Phalane street talking on the phone, when he was attacked from behind by two unknown men.

“One of the men was armed with a firearm and demanded his cellphone.

“The complainant refused to give him the phone and he then shot him in the left leg.

“They searched him and took R1 600 and his banking cards.

“The victim was rushed to hospital in an ambulance,” he says.
