CHANCE celebrates Women’s Day

Masihlangane Women’s Group celebrates Women’s Day mothering the children of CHANCE Children’s Home.

Dunnottar – Masihlangane Women’s Group celebrates Women’s Day by mothering the children of Chance Children’s Home.

Anna Ndlela, who was orphaned as a child, believes that with love and support from the community the children will grow up to be productive citizens.

“I know what it feels like to have no parents, but because other people stepped in after my parents died, I am a responsible woman, wife, mother and grandmother.”

Another member of the inter-denominational group from Duduza, Matlakala Hlatshwayo, encourages the children to dream beyond their circumstances.

“We love you, and we want to make a lasting difference in your lives.

“We hope that you will allow us to take care of you where we can.”

The women brought clothes, shoes, vegetables and toiletries donated by congregants from their different churches.

Chance’s centre manager, Thembani Nkosi says, “I want to thank God for bringing us women like these today.”

She explains that she is overwhelmed because she did not expect so many people to visit at once.

“I hope to see more of you on a regular basis to help and to bond with the children.

To them, a simple motherly hug and help with homework mean more than you can imagine.”

Dorah Moloko, the president of the group, believes that they have a lot more work to do in the community.

“We have also adopted a group of boys who are drug addicts.

“We really hope that they will decide to quit, and we will then refer them to the correct channels to get help.”

The group meets once a month to pray and come up with ways to have a positive impact on the community.
