New JoJo tank for Lebone Primary

Lebone Primary School received a JoJo tank sponsored by Sunlight recently.

Tsakane – Lebone Primary School received a JoJo tank sponsored by Sunlight on Tuesday.

Deputy Principal Masire Madisa says the tank will help the school in their efforts to save municipal resources, as they can use the stored rainwater.

“In cases of water cuts, we can use the water from the tank to flush toilets and clean the floors.

“The water can also be used to water our garden,” he said.

The JoJo tank was installed at the school after Lebone Primary School won a competition run in partnership with Tsakane Superspar and Sunlight.

The competition was a water-saving initiative aimed at encouraging ordinary South Africans to save water while the country experiences a drought.

“South Africa is an incredibly water-scarce country, with low, sporadic rainfall,” says Jane Fenner, Laundry South Africa Director at Unilever.

This after some parts of the country struggled to meet a growing water demand.

She also explained, as part of their commitment to ensure South Africa’s sustainable water future, the company would set up the Unilever Centre for Environmental Water Quality (UCEWQ).

“Water sustainability is an issue we all need to work together on to address.

“We all need to change our water-usage behaviour.”

Madisa also encouraged the public to join the water-saving movement and become smart water-savers.

“If we teach the learners these habits now, they will be a whole generation of conscious water-users.”
