KwaThema – A hijacked vehicle in Joe Mzamane Drive was recovered along Lintle Street in an open field on Saturday.

KwaThema police spokesperson, Capt Thabo Sibuyi, says on the same evening when officers, dealing with a trio of crimes, arrived on the scene where the recovered vehicle was.

They found the driver’s window broken and the bonnet unlatched.

“Police also found someone from the air tracking company there.

“When the man from the air tracking company was interviewed he told the police they had received a call from their control room concerning the hijacked vehicle.

“He then received the GPS location of the vehicle and proceeded to the given address where he found the vehicle,” he says.

Sibuyi says the victim’s sister, who was also interviewed, explained she received a call from an unknown man informing her, her brother had been shot at 4am.

“At about 4.25am she received another call from the same number but, at that time, she was contacted by her brother.

“He told her to ask her son to contact the tracking company because his vehicle had been hijacked.

“Moments later, she was told her brother was being taken to Parkland Hospital for medical treatment as he had been shot in the right elbow.”

He says the victim was later transferred to Life The Glynnwood Hospital in Benoni.

“The family was also informed by the tracking company the vehicle had been found,” says Sibuyi.

Sibuyi says no arrests have been made but a case of hijacking and attempted murder is being investigated and attempts are made to catch the three unknown culprits.
